1. What records will be searched? The Wisconsin Adjutant General's Regimental Muster and Descriptive Rolls (aka Red and Blue Books) created during and after the Civil War. These are different than the pension or military service records available from the National Archives.

2. What will I receive? Photocopies of hand-written pages from the above collection, held by the Wisconsin Historical Society Archives. These records typically show the soldier's name, regiment, company, rank, and date of mustering (enrollment) into service. Many records also include a birthplace, age, residence, occupation, marital status, physical description, muster out date and service notes (e.g. wounded, died, deserted, etc.). At the end of the order process, you will be able to print out a receipt summarizing your request and the total cost. Note: If a soldier served in more than one unit, please fill out a separate order for each company/regiment combination.
3. How long will it take? Your order will ship within two weeks of receipt. For an additional fee, you can choose RUSH service, and your order will ship within seven business days.
