It's Your History Turning Points in Wisconsin History
What do you think are the most important events in our state's history? Tell us, at Turning Points In Wisconsin History, and we'll digitize original manuscripts, photographs, rare books, and museum objects that reflect your interests so you can explore them here on the Society Web site.
State guidelines encourage teachers to cover ten broad themes in Wisconsin history. We invited 300 experts around the state to name crucial turning points under each of those themes, and then shaped their suggestions into a ballot. During May we're contacting more than 6,000 teachers and asking them to help their classes vote for the events that made Wisconsin what it is today.
We'd like you to vote, too. Everyone who loves Wisconsin - - genealogists, college students, home schoolers, librarians, re-enactors, preservationists, local historical society members, scholars, and every other interested person - - is encouraged to cast a ballot during May. You can easily email the ballot to friends and family, members of your book group, and other people who care about our heritage. Once we know what you care most about, we'll build a rich digital collection that reflects your interests.
For more information, read the full project description at http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/turningpoints/. Then make sure your vote is counted along with everyone else's. After all, it's your history.
