"History Belongs to Everybody"
In a news story that ran in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago newspapers, Library-Archives Deputy Administrator Michael Edmonds is quoted as saying "History belongs to everybody; it shouldn't be locked away in dark rooms." We couldn't agree more. From American Journeys to our Online Collections and Online Museum Exhibits, the Wisconsin Historical Society has worked for years to put material online.
More than a fad or buzzword, the digitization of library, archive, and museum materials is a revolutionary idea that allows people around the globe to see content that only exists here.
"Our future depends on us being able to turn our collections inside out — to show people what we have," Edmonds says.
