Happy 138th Birthday, Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright
Widely regarded as America's most influential architect, Frank Lloyd Wright left behind a rich legacy of homes and buildings, and created a distinctly American style of architecture that continues to influence architects to this day. Born in Richland Center, Wisconsin, on June 8, 1867, Wright went on to design more than 1,100 projects, nearly half of which were built in his lifetime. Wright's Wisconsin work includes Wingspread in Racine, Monona Terrace and the Unitarian Meetinghouse in Madison, and Taliesin, Wright's home and school in Spring Green.

Wright's birthday is a chance to learn more about his life, work, and influence on succeeding generations of architects. At our new Web page on Frank Lloyd Wright, we bring you photographs, drawings, articles, and biographical information on Wright. Included here is the Society's newest acquisition, rare photographs of the original Taliesin before it was destroyed by fire in 1914.

People from around the world come to see the work of this Wisconsin-born architect every year. His revolutionary designs redefined the way we live and work. We'll be adding more Wright pictures, manuscripts, and publications to this page in the future, so bookmark it and check back later to stay up-to-date as we place more material online.
