The Wild, Wild West Comes to Wade House!
The history of the Wild West will come to life in rip-roaring fashion during Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and Cowboy Boomtown at Wade House stagecoach inn in Greenbush Saturday and Sunday, August 27 & 28. The event runs from all day Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. with a special two-hour arena show kicking off at 7 o'clock Saturday evening. The gates reopen at 10 a.m. Sunday with a matinee arena show at 2 p.m. when the cowboy boomtown closes. In addition to the arena shows, on both days of the event visitors can see legendary Wild West characters in action such as "Little Sure Shot" Annie Oakley, "Cowboy Kid" Johnnie Baker, and "The King of the Cowboys" Buck Taylor. Each day visitors can expect to see these entertaining characters hone skills ranging from wielding a bullwhip to trick shooting with revolvers and rifles. Other scenarios that will unfold throughout both days include gunfights, holdups and the dispensation of frontier justice to outlaws.
For the first time ever, Wild West show wagons from Circus World in Baraboo, including the Buffalo Bill's ticket wagon, will be on hand to add a colorful and authentic air to the event. Visitors can explore a "cowboy boomtown" that includes such Wild West institutions as the omnipresent small-town saloon, populated by various ruffians and n'ere-do-wells but also stocked with cool drafts of root beer and other refreshments. An Old West market will also offer reproduction goods for sale, and cowboy food stands will serve up a variety of Wild West favorites. Photo opportunities will abound. In addition to the ongoing spectacle of frontier showmanship, visitors can pose for pictures with the likes of Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley.
Special note: a statewide kids-get-in-free promotional offer for the Wisconsin Historical Society's historic sites during August is not valid at Wade House during the Wild West Show weekend only.
