Historic Sites Visitor Appreciation Day, June 4
Anyone planning to visit one of the Wisconsin Historical Society's historic sites should mark Sunday, June 4, 2006, on their calendars to achieve big savings on admission prices that day only. That's because six of the sites will slash admission prices to just $2 per person, adults and children alike, for that day only to show appreciation for their past visitors and to give new visitors an inexpensive entrée to the fun and excitement of living history. One site — Madeline Island Historical Museum — will offer free admission all day on Sunday, June 4. Circus World Museum in Baraboo will not take part in the Visitor Appreciation Day offer.
The special $2-per-person Visitor Appreciation Day offer includes these historic sites:
Madeline Island Historical Museum in La Pointe (Ashland County) will offer free admission on June 4 to coincide with free ferry passenger rides to and from the island on the Madeline Island Ferry Line. Admission to First Capitol in Belmont (Lafayette County), which opens June 14, is free all season.
The historic sites' Visitor Appreciation Day offer coincides with a statewide free-admission day on June 4 at Wisconsin State Parks, offering an ample selection of state park and historic site destinations to mix-and-match for a family friendly Wisconsin outing. The entire weekend of June 3-4 also offers free fishing statewide.
