Kids Get in Free at Historic Sites All August!

A girl leaps into a giant haystack at Old World Wisconsin

August — the last full month of summer — means there is still plenty of time for families to enjoy some day trips and weekend outings together before it's time to head back to school. And you had better put Wisconsin's nine historic sites on your short list of family fun destinations in August, because all kids 12 and younger will get in free all month long! The special kids-get-in-free offer provides multiple opportunities for family fun and entertainment while learning together about Wisconsin's rich and colorful history. Kids accompanied by an adult will receive free admission to each of these historic sites:

First Capitol, near Belmont in Lafayette County, always offers free admission. The kids-get-in-free offer, not valid with other promotional offers, is underwritten by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, American Family Insurance, and Wisconsin Education Association Council.

"We are very pleased to help the Wisconsin Historical Society bring history to life for young people," said Jim Holperin, secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. "And what better way to do that than to make visiting these fine historic resources more affordable for families," Holperin added.
