Old World Wisconsin Workshops Announced

Women making baskets by hand during an Old World Wisconsin historic crafts and trades workshop

From broom making, knitting and spinning to 19th-century blacksmithing and timber framing, Old World Wisconsin offers a wide variety of winter-and-spring workshops that teach once common pioneer skills to Internet-age audiences eager to learn new things about old ways. The off-season workshops give participants an opportunity to learn a historic craft or trade, often using authentic period tools, within the outdoor museum's historic buildings — at a time when the museum is not open to the general public.

New workshop offerings include Timber Framing, Flag Sewing, Tussie Mussies, Winnebago basket making, Tatting, and Loom Knitting for Parents and Children. In addition, we are offering two sessions of Intermediate 19th-Century Blacksmithing workshops this spring for those who have had the introductory course and are ready to move on.

For a complete list of workshops, visit the Old World Wisconsin workshops page.
