Don't Miss the Magnificent Motor Car Exhibition!

This photo would most likely have been taken at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey show, probably during the 1920s, by noted circus and theatrical photographer Harry Atwell, whose negative collection is owned by Circus World.

More than 100 classic automobiles dating from 1890 to 1940 will be featured for the first time throughout the grounds of Circus World from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, during the Magnificent Motor Car Exhibition. Members of a local Model T auto club will proudly display their beautifully restored vehicles, and trophies will be awarded in people's choice and best-of-show judging for entrants in each of four classes based on the cars' dates of manufacture: 1910 and earlier; 1911-1920; 1921-1930; and 1931-1940.

The event will include special demonstrations showing how a Ford Model T can be completely disassembled and rebuilt in less than an hour. The Model T demonstrations will take place twice in the circus ring of the Hippodrome building — at 10 a.m. and at 2:45 p.m. It is sure to be an event that any classic car enthusiast will enjoy — from the professional gearhead to the weekend cruiser.

More than 100 historic photos from the 1890s to the 1940s will be displayed, featuring classic automobiles and their ties to the circuses of the time period. The photos depict the great circus stars (and animals) of the day posing with new autos and trucks. Behind-the-scenes photos of the trucks and cars used to help move the circus will also be shown.

Circus World's regularly scheduled performances will run as normal throughout the day. Acts include twice daily performances by the Acrobats of Circus China, Elephant Encounters and KidsWorld Circus, a clown show and magic acts. For a complete rundown of daily circus shows, review the performance schedule. For more information on hours, admission and other details, visit our visitor information page.
