Odd Wisconsin, the Society's popular blog and weekly feature in the Wednesday Wisconsin State Journal, is now a new book from Wisconsin Historical Society Press! Odd Wisconsin: Amusing, Perplexing and Unlikely Stories from Wisconsin's Past by Erika Janik unearths the stories that got lost to history even though they may have made local headlines at the time. The book includes some of the best stories from the blog entries (now up past 500 entries!) as well as new stories and images that will surprise, perplex, astonish and otherwise connect you with the state's fascinating history.

While Bob La Follette's exploits as leader of the Progressive party are legendary, his early morning exertions to save valuable government documents and executive department paintings during the disastrous 1904 Capitol fire are largely unknown. Odd Wisconsin captures the people, places, and events that didn't make it into conventional state histories, lowering the bucket into the depths of Wisconsin history and bringing to light curious fragments of forgotten lives.
