Winter Wisconsin Magazine of History is Here
The winter issue of the Wisconsin Magazine of History is on its way! From cover to cover, the winter issue is packed with stories to take you away from the holiday stress and winter chill! Inside the winter issue, find articles on anti-horse thief associations, the early history of Aztalan, an image essay that explores what fences say about us, and an inside look at the family recipes and stories told in the new Wisconsin Historical Society Press book, Apple Betty & Sloppy Joe: Stirring up the Past with Family Recipes and Stories.
The cover of the 2007-2008 Wisconsin Magazine of History The cover story and featured article in this issue documents the lifetime achievements of J. Anthony Josey, the so-called first mayor of Black Milwaukee. Josey worked tirelessly for decades to improve living conditions and to ease racial tensions for African Americans in Milwaukee. As editor of the Milwaukee Weekly Blade, Josey covered everything from discriminatory housing practices to unjust stereotyping in the local paper — no issue was too big or too small for the first mayor of Bronzeville.
Find the magazine in our online store or at a bookstore near you.
