Spring Local History and Museum Workshops
The Wisconsin Historical Society and the Wisconsin Federation of Museums have announced their annual offering of workshops for museum professionals and volunteers. This spring four workshops held in locations around the state will offer expertise in both museum collections and operations from several professionals in the museum, planning and marketing fields. - The Quilts in Your Museum Collection: Identification, Storage, Exhibition and Conservation Issues
April 4, 2008, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Milwaukee Public Museum, Milwaukee
Learn how to identify and care for textiles including techniques for handling and storing quilts as well as special care information for new manmade fibers and non-traditional quilts.
- Starting Your Strategic Planning Process
April 14, 2008, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
EAA Aviation Center, Oshkosh
This hands-on seminar will show you how to choose the right strategic planning process for your organization and how to get started. A roundtable discussion will also allow you to share your organization's events and programs with other participants. This workshop also includes a tour of the EAA Aviation Center.
- Utilizing Your Institution's Photographic Resources

H.H. Bennett Studio, Wisconsin Dells
Participation limited to 50 — register early!
Learn about the H.H. Bennett Studio's collection and the process used for reproducing images for sale. Experts from the Wisconsin Historical Society, Wisconsin Heritage Online, and the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum will also use their collections to demonstrate some of the legal issues of photographic collections and the challenges of collection development.
- Marketing on a Shoestring Budget

Olbrich Botanical Gardens, Madison

Marketing and media professionals will show you how to get the most out of free or inexpensive marketing techniques and how to work with the media. You'll also have the chance to take a guided tour of Olbrich's spring gardens after the workshop.
