Children's Partnership Celebrates Five Years
The Madison Children's Activities Summer Passport Partnership — celebrating its fifth anniversary this summer — is your family's guide to exciting children's programs that will take place in the downtown area. In 2003 the Madison Public Library's central branch,
Madison Children's Museum, Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum and the Wisconsin Historical Museum joined forces to create and distribute a downtown activity guide highlighting each institution's cultural programs and events for children.
In 2006 the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art joined the partnership and the guide turned into a passport program. In 2007 the University of Wisconsin Geology Museum and UW Space Place joined, and in 2008 the partnership celebrates five years of presenting youth programming.
Each page in the passport represents a site and lists the children's activities that each of the eight cultural partners offers for the summer. Participants are encouraged to partake in at least one activity or program at each site, receive a stamp in the passport and a small prize. If participants collect a stamp from each site, they will receive a bigger prize.
Join the cultural partners in the summer 2008 kickoff event on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, from 10 a.m.-noon at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Participants will be able to pick up their passports and take part in eight different activity stations. Activities are designed for children ages 4 to 8. We hope you will be able to help join us celebrating this fifth anniversary by partaking in many of the activities!
