Historic Sites Launch 10 New Websites

New websites for each of the Wisconsin Historical Society's 10 historic sites will provide visitors with a better sense of what to expect when they visit sites such as Old World Wisconsin, pictured here with a historical interpreter in period attire working a team of oxen

We at the Wisconsin Historical Society are excited to announce the launch of 10 newly designed websites for each of our historic sites. Links to all the new sites can be found on our historic sites homepage. Each new website has a dynamic homepage, an enhanced calendar section and vivid photography on every page, making it easier for our visitors to get the information they want. A brand new element can be found in each website's Explore section. Interested users can now get a feel for a typical site experience prior to an actual on-site visit. Through the use of high-resolution photography and interesting content, the Explore sections can provide for a pre-visit orientation, a post-visit review or a way to tour each site virtually. See an example of the new Explore section for Old World Wisconsin.

These new websites are part of a larger branding initiative underway at the Wisconsin Historical Society to increase its visibility and ensure continued relevance to its audience. Each historic site now features a unique logo design inspired by the story shared at that site, while being presented as part of a family of 10 sites that are all components of the Wisconsin Historical Society.

We have also reorganized some sections for improved efficiency so if you have any bookmarked pages, you may find that those URLs no longer exist. Now each historic site has its own easy-to-remember homepage name, providing a stronger overall Web presence. Here is a list of all 10 homepages:

Each of the new websites is updated on a monthly, weekly or even daily basis, depending on what special events or new programs are taking place. We hope you find these new sites easy to use — and we hope they inspire you to plan a visit to one or more of our historic sites. Let us know what you think by emailing your comments.
