Museum Offers Big Savings on Holiday Gifts
The Wisconsin Historical Museum store will hold its annual holiday sale December 11-14. Here you can find inexpensive (but not cheap) gifts and books as well as panels and props from previous exhibits at the museum. Come early to get in on the good stuff and to meet Season's Gleamings authors John Shimon and Julie Lindemann. They will give a presentation on aluminum Christmas trees in Wisconsin beginning at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, with a book signing to follow.
With the money you save at the sale, you can really clean up in the museum store with items for everyone. Our most popular item is the Wisconsin State Capitol commemorative ornament. Of course, finding the right gift for some folks year after year can be a frustrating task. Do you have an uncle on your list who wants nothing, needs nothing, and only likes bowling, hunting and complaining? We have a gift that is right up his alley. Doug Schmidt's new book They Came to Bowl traces bowling's roots from a German religious rite centuries ago to the sport that made Milwaukee famous. Robert Willging's On the Hunt covers the story of hunting from Paleo-Indians to the hunters of today, making it the perfect gift for the avid sportsman.
Do you have a discerning female on your holiday shopping list? LeDanse earrings and necklaces are handmade in Wisconsin from the old copper roof of the Unitarian Meeting House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Wrapped in sterling silver and adorned with pearls, this jewelry is truly unique to Wisconsin. Speaking of unique, the Wisconsin Historical Museum store's Real Wisconsin line of products celebrates what is unique to the Badger State from the iconic to the ironic. Remember the days of oleo-margarine smuggling or getting fresh cheese curds while they were still warm and squeaky? You can bring back those days with this line of mugs, magnets, and t-shirts.
Can't make it to Madison? No problem. The Wisconsin Historical Museum store is happy to ship your order. Call us at 888-999-1669, or visit our online store.
