Old World Wisconsin Fall Workshops Scheduled
From spinning and quilting to 19th-century blacksmithing, child-and-parent cooking and Dutch oven cooking, Old World Wisconsin has a lineup of fall workshops planned that will teach once-common pioneer skills to Internet-age audiences eager to learn new things about old ways. The workshops begin in September and continue into the off-season, offering opportunities to learn a historic craft or trade, often using period tools, within the museum's historic buildings.
New Offerings and Returning Favorites
New this fall are Wood Stove Cooking for Kids and their Favorite Grown-up on Saturday, November 4, and Dutch Oven Cooking on Saturday, November 14. Dutch oven cooking is based on hearth cooking and dates to a time before cast-iron cookstoves became commonplace. A frequently requested workshop, Basket Weaving, returns on Saturday, November 7. Another workshop, Open Tatting on November 1, will help those who have taken the beginner's class to come in and get some expert help for problems they may be having with their projects.
Following is a list of all the fall workshops:
