Music for President Lincoln Concert August 29

The 1st Brigade Band will perform Civil War-era music on authentic period instruments during "Music for President Lincoln" at Old World Wisconsin Saturday, August 29.

In commemoration of the bicentennial year of President Abraham Lincoln's birth, Old World Wisconsin will celebrate the life of the 16th president with an evening outdoor concert and dramatic performance during Music for President Lincoln on Saturday, August 29, at 6 p.m. Performed by the renowned and historically true-to-life 1st Brigade Band, the musical performance will get underway on the Visitor Center lawn and will feature songs and popular band tunes of the Civil War era, played on antique, 19th-century instruments and in carefully authenticated arrangements that Abraham Lincoln might have heard during his presidency.

President and Mrs. Lincoln to Make an Appearance

Famed Lincoln presenters, Max and Donna Daniels, will take the stage as the president and Mary Todd Lincoln to share a humorous and intimate portrait of the personal life of the Lincolns beginning with memories of their departure from their Springfield, Illinois, home as they left for Washington and ending with the president's return for burial five years later.

The 1st Brigade Band has been delighting and exciting audiences with rousing Civil War-era brass band music throughout the nation for more than 40 years. "When blended with the instruments and music of his day, the words of Abraham Lincoln come alive and his thoughts reach across the space of time to touch us all," says 1st Brigade Band Managing Director David Woolpert.
