Wisconsin Taste Traditions: Victorians' Secret
Victorian ladies had a secret — under their clothes. Join the Wisconsin Historical Museum's curator of costumes and textiles, Leslie Bellais, on Saturday, February 12, as she shares the Victorians' secret for tiny waists and speaks to the origin of underwear and how it changed over time. Bellais will explore how women's undergarments reflected societal values and share examples of Victorian underwear from the museum's collection. A Victorian-themed tea will cap off the event, featuring tea and sweets from Bloom Bake Shop in Middleton.
Taste Traditions of Wisconsin: Victorians' Secrets is part of a series that highlights Wisconsin's rich culinary heritage through food, history and sharing stories. Times are noon to 2 pm. The cost is $14.85 for Society members and $16.50 for non-members. Registration and payment are required by Thursday, February 3. To register call 608-264-6555 or register online.
