James P. Danky Fellowship Deadline is May 1
Each year the Society and the Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture offer a $1,000 short-term research fellowship in honor of Society librarian James P. Danky's long service to print culture scholarship. The Danky Fellowship provides $1,000 to support one individual's research trip to Madison to use the Society's collections on mass communications, print history and related subjects. Grant money may be used for travel, costs of copying archival resources, and living expenses while pursuing research here. More information on the Danky Fellowship is available from the Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture.
Preference will be given to proposals undertaking research in print culture history; researchers from outside Madison; and research likely to lead to publication.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the Society archives (phone: 608-264-6460; email: askarchives@wisconsinhistory.org) prior to applying in order to discuss the relevance of Society collections to their research. Historical Society and Center for Print Culture staff may be able to identify potential collections of which you may not otherwise be aware.
For details on how to apply, see the Danky Fellowship page on the Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture website. Applications are due by May 1. The recipient will be notified by May 31.
