At Work and at Play at Wade House
Wade House, the Society's 1860s stagecoach inn and historic site in Greenbush, is getting ready for spring, and the staff could use your help. On Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, the historic site will celebrate the start of another season during At Work and at Play at Wade House, and the staff is hoping visitors will drop by to help with some of the spring chores such as preparing and planting the historic gardens, filling straw ticks, airing out quilts (as shown above), making beds, blacking the stove and sweeping the floors.
Sheep Shearing and Vintage 1860s Base Ball
On Saturday only, observe as the historic site's three Merino-Cotswold sheep are sheared of their winter coats. On Sunday only, take in the sights and sounds of vintage base ball as it was played in the 1860s. The Wade House home team, the Greenbush Dead Citys, will take on the Milwaukee Cream Citys, then will invite fans to take part in a rousing pick-up game. Game time is 1:30 pm. Admission to the game is included with admission.
