In 1987 the Burial Sites Preservation law, Wisconsin Statute §157.70, was implemented to prevent further destruction to pre-historic and historic burial sites.

Q: Can I dig in a known burial site location for the purpose of obtaining artifacts or human remains?

No. The Burial Sites Preservation law makes it illegal to disturb all human burial site for any reason.
