Papers of Russell Jones, a foreign correspondent best known for his reporting on the Hungarian Revolt of 1956 for which he won a Pulitzer Prize. The papers consist of biographical information, correspondence, and articles by and about Jones. The majority of the collection is composed of articles by Jones regarding the revolt in Hungary during which time he was the only Western reporter in Budapest. The photographs depict Jones as a youth, in Hungary, and reporting on various foreign conflicts including World War II and the Korean War.

The collection consists of examples of his writings and scripts, clippings about his career and WSAU-TV, fragmentary correspondence primarily concerning his return to Wausau in 1953 and the itinerant life of radio talent with whom he was acquainted, and some listener mail. Photographs include snapshots of Topinka (some in his costume as "Rudy the Wrangler," the host for WSAU-TV's cowboy show) and photographs of station facilities and station staff (some include Walter John Chilsen). The tape recordings include examples of Topinka's own broadcasting such as “55 Feedback,” a local talk radio program.
