Manuscript Collections:
Harvey and Harriette Vick scrapbooks and ephemera.
Scrapbooks principally documenting the Vicks’ travels throughout Wisconsin. The scrapbooks consist of maps, brochures, and news articles the Vick family collected while visiting parks and historic sites throughout the state. The bulk of the photographs and negatives were removed from the scrapbook and are housed separately; photocopies of the images have been inserted where the photographs originally appeared. Also included is a scrapbook Harriette (Howard) Vick kept during her adolescence (1926-1941) and a scrapbook kept by Harvey (1943-1970) principally documenting his World War II service. Loose photographs include images of Harriette’s family; many are of her uncle, John Enz, and the Denmark (Wis.) area. Additionally, there is a small amount of ephemera including baptismal certificates, postcards, some World War II materials, report cards, and some of Harvey’s school notebooks.
Isabel Ebert family papers and photographs.
Papers and photographs of the Isabel (Johnson) Ebert family, the bulk of which chronicles the girls’ Camp Minne-wawa that Isabel and her husband Marcus founded on Tomahawk Lake in northern Wisconsin in 1912. A small portion documents the boys’ Camp Ad-a-wa-gam that the family also started on Tomahawk Lake. Also included is some family genealogical history that includes the family names Johnson, Whitelaw, and Schachter. The papers consist of Isabel’s historical research papers, writings, and accomplishments regarding Camp Minne-wawa as well as her founding of the Northland Historical Society in the 1950s. The photographs include images of her family and friends, both the boys’ and girls’ camps, and the Tomahawk (Wis.) area in general.
B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation at the University of Wisconsin.
Additions, 1926-2000, to the records of an organization founded in 1924 to promote religious, educational, and social activities among Jewish students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison documenting board meetings, social and religious activities and events, the Building Fund, and a 1988 oral history project. The records include minutes, correspondence, financial records, subject files, scrapbooks, press releases, photographs, and sound recordings.
