Wisconsin Government Publications
The Society Library became one of three state-level depositories for Wisconsin state government publications in 1992. The other two state-level depositories in Wisconsin are the Legislative Reference Bureau and the Reference and Loan Library. Of these three, the Library's collection is the most complete. It serves as the permanent collection for all Wisconsin state government publications (except for University of Wisconsin publications, which are held at university libraries.)
The Society's Library also has a sizable collection of Wisconsin county and municipal government publications. It is particularly strong in publications for the city of Madison, the city of Milwaukee, Dane county and Milwaukee county.
Items in the Wisconsin government collection may be requested in-person at the Library's Circulation Desk or via Interlibrary Loan.
To discover if the library owns a particular title, search the Library Catalog (formerly MadCat). Because records for many publications will not be found in the Library Catalog, please contact the Society's Government Publications staff at 608-261-2460 if you are having trouble locating a publication.
