Borrowing Materials through Interlibrary Loan: Information for Researchers
Any item that circulates from the Library may be loaned to a patron of another library through interlibrary loan. Rare, fragile, unbound, and heavily used materials (including all genealogical and most local history resources) do not circulate and thus cannot be loaned to users at other libraries.
The Library has duplicate circulating copies of some Wisconsin county histories and Wisconsin censuses on microfilm. The duplicate copies can be sent via interlibrary loan. Photocopies of non-circulating resources can be obtained through interlibrary loan (depending on copyright compliance and/or physical condition).
All interlibrary loan requests should originate at a researcher's home library. Do not contact the WHS Library directly if you want an item sent to you. Start at your home library instead.
Interlibrary loan requests for WHS materials are processed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries. Find more information on the University of Wisconsin-Madison website regarding contact information, lending and copying policies and charges.
