How do I Consult the Collections?

Collections are housed in two locations:

  1. The Wisconsin Historical Museum at 30 North Carroll Street, on Madison's Capitol Square, explores Wisconsin's unique heritage through artifact-rich exhibitions.
  2. The Wisconsin Historical Society 's headquarters at 816 State Street, on the Madison campus of the University of Wisconsin, stores the vast majority of the collections.

Objects in storage are available to interested viewers and researchers by appointment. To make a specific inquiry or an appointment to view Museum artifacts, please contact the designated curator between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
