The original buildings of Madeline Island Historical Museum

A wooden stockade fence encloses the original buildings of Madeline Island Historical Museum in historic La Pointe. The museum's exhibits trace more than three centuries of Wisconsin history from the island's habitation by the Ojibwe people and the arrival of explorers and fur traders to the early 20th century, when the island became a popular summer tourist destination.
