Navigating the Book
The Massachusetts volumes are in PDF format with arrows at the top and bottom of the pages that allow you to page through the books. You can also browse the collection using the table of contents. There are also many ways to search the volumes using the search field above.
Keyword Search
Enter any word or phrase to search the full text of the Massachusetts volumes. The search engine will return results that match the words entered in the search field. Consecutive words are treated as a phrase; they must appear in the same order within a matching document.
Boolean
Use Boolean operators to make a more precise query. Use the word AND to search for two terms on one page. For example, searching for the phrase "Franklin and Adams" will return pages containing both the words "Franklin" and "Adams." Use the term OR, for example "Franklin or Adams," to search for pages with either "Franklin" or "Adams."

Wildcard Searches
Use the wildcard character (*) to search for pages containing words similar to a given word. For example, searching for "fed*" will return pages that contain the words federal and federalist.
