Tuesday December 18th, the train of Artillery, lately raised in the town of Pownalboro’, under the command of Major SETH TINKHAM, made their first public appearance, at Wiscasset Point, on Sheepscutt River, where, after going through the several manœuvers and evolutions in the manual exercise, to the entire satisfaction of a large number of spectators, they then marched to Major TINKHAM’s, where a handsome entertainment was provided for them, and in the evening the following toasts were drank, under a discharge of 13 cannon:
1. Governor and Council.—2. Federal Government. 3. General Washington.—4. Major General Lithgow. 5. Our Faithful Allies.—6. Pownalboro’ Artillery. 7. Infantry at Kennebeck.—8. The Eighth Division of Militia in Massachusetts.—9. State Convention.—10. Agriculture and Commerce.—11. Navigation and Fishery. 12. May our Exports be greater than our Imports. 13. The United States.
