My very dear son

… there are great rejoicings thro ye. Continent, upon Massachusetts adopting the Constitution, she makes 6. There was only a Majority of 19 & that would not have been obtained unless Gr. Hancock had proposed their recomending a number of amendments. after the Question was carried the Minority behaved magnanimously, by declaring their acquiescence & promising to give it their influence & support—They are highly extolled. New Hampshire will follow & so will every state, tis supposd. …
