2008 State Event
Visitor Information
The 2008 state event
will take place on Saturday, May 3 in Madison,
Wisconsin. The event headquarters is located at the Wisconsin
Historical Society at 816 State Street. Presentations will take
place in the Wisconsin Historical Society and nearby on the
UW-Madison campus, including the Humanities Building, Grainger,
the Memorial Union and the Wisconsin Union Theater.
Visitors are always
welcome at the National History Day in Wisconsin State Event!
On the day of the event, please stop by 816 State Street, Madison
at the registration desk located in the lobby of the Wisconsin
Historical Society. There, you will find a program of the day's
events, final schedules and locations of presentations, and
helpful volunteers to answer all of your questions.
Public Viewing
of Projects
There are many opportunities
for visitors to see student work. The state event program, available
at the registration desk on the day of the event, will outline
the locations of student projects.
- Exhibit: The exhibit hall will be open
to the public while judging is not going on, as detailed
in the General
Event Schedule. When judging is occurring, only students
and judges will be permitted in the exhibit hall.
- Documentary and Performance: First and
final round documentary and performance presentations are
open to the public, but please wait for a room monitor to
open the door before entering. The General
Event Schedule outlines approximate times for presentations.
A detailed schedule of entries will be available at the
registration desk or online
the week of the event.
- Paper and Web Site: Paper entries will
be on display in the Wisconsin Historical Society lobby.
Papers will be removed from display at noon for final round
judging.
Results
Results will be announced
during the awards ceremony at the state event. Complete results,
including honorable mentions, will be posted in the lobby of
the Wisconsin Union Theater immediately after the awards ceremony
has concluded. All results will be posted online
on the Monday following the event. History Day staff will
not be available for phone inquiries prior to the online posting
of results.
