Guidelines for New Projects
Weaving a Wisconsin Tapestry recommends that no homepage contain any of the following without parental permission:
- Student e-mail addresses
- Identifiable student pictures
- Students' full names
Weaving a Wisconsin Tapestry requires that
- No homepage contain graphics or information in violation of copyright laws
- All pages be approved by appropriate school district staff before inclusion
- All links are kept current
Content Specifications for Web Pages
Weaving a Wisconsin Tapestry requires that each Web page contain the following information:
- E-mail for contact person at school
- A title that appropriately describes the content of the page
- Well edited text including correct spelling and grammar
- Factually correct information
- References if the homepage is a research document--cite your sources
Technical Specifications for Web Pages
These specifications take into consideration that authors and publishers may be working on different platforms. The specifications help ensure that there are no problems with differing platforms during the publishing process.
File Names
- Should have no spaces, all lower case, and unique and descriptive names (Examples: africa.htm or elephant.gif).
- Should end with an .htm or .html extension.
Web Pages
- Web sites should be a collection of smaller pages accessed from a top level page (versus one long page).
- Sub-pages should contain links to appropriate parent Web pages.
- Longer homepages should contain a hypertext index and links throughout the document to facilitate navigation.
