1846 - Carroll College Chartered

On this date Carroll College, in Waukesha, was chartered by the territorial legislature. It is the oldest college in Wisconsin. 1862 - (Civil War) 16th Wisconsin Infantry Mustered In

The 16th Wisconsin Infantry mustered in at Camp Randall in Madison. It would go on to fight in the battles of Shiloh, Corinth, Kennesaw Mountain, and Atlanta, and then participate in Sherman's March to the Sea. About half of its members would die in the South.
