The Army of the Cumberland was reorganized and the 15th Wisconsin Infantry was reassigned to the 1st Wisconsin Brigade.

1908 - Wisconsin First Lady Helen Davis Thomas Born

On this date Helen Davis Thomson, wife of Wisconsin Governor Vernon Wallace Thomson, was born in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Throughout Governor Thomson's term from 1957-1959, the first lady devoted her time to raising their children, philanthropic work with the Red Cross, and gardening. 1996 - Wisconsin Tribe Files for Assistance

On this date the Red Cliff Tribe of Wisconsin became the first Native American tribe to file their own Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) plan.
