On this date the Wisconsin Territorial Legislature passed into law legislation incorporating the Bank of Milwaukee. The bank never opened its doors for business due to the panic of 1837 and other events.
1864 - (Civil War) Battle of Franklin, Tennessee
The 24th Wisconsin Infantry took part in the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee. Major Arthur McArthur was wounded at Franklin as the 24th Infantry fought several hours in fierce combat that left seven of its soldiers dead or wounded.
