How This Ballot Was Created

The ten main categories were defined by the state Department of Public Instruction during 1997 and 1998 to guide teachers. They are explained in detail at the DPI site for Model Academic Standards, These ten themes and eras have been widely adopted by schools and cultural institutions as a framework for discussing Wisconsin history.
