Lumberjack tales of Paul Bunyan
Paul Bunyan, noted pioneer in land clearing
This 1921 article from the Eagle River newspaper, Vilas County News, treats Paul Bunyan as if he were a real historical figure rather than a character in folklore. It retells several of the tales current in the northwoods about Wisconsin's most famous lumberjack, and includes drawings. Its author was also the person responsible for creating excitement about a mythical beast he called the Hodag.
