Documents and images of Milwaukee schoolchildren, 1887-present
Children in Urban America: Schooling
Milwaukee's first school opened in 1836. As the city grew, schools, both public and private, opened throughout the city's six wards. This collection presents documents and images of students in Milwaukee schools in addition to special topic areas that offer perspectives on particular policies and issues that students and teachers have faced.
