Children in Urban America: Health and Welfare


Institutions devoted to the health and welfare of Milwaukee's children were established before the Civil War. Milwaukee residents worked to create safe playgrounds, quality housing, hospitals, and a juvenile court system. The documents and images here provide information on the institutions and organizations that sought to help children, as well as the many dangers and difficulties that children faced throughout history.
