A Barron Co. aviator describes life as a prisoner of war.

Letter, Oct. 28, 1944.

Leo Chermack of Barron, in Barron Co., was a German prisoner-of-war during World War II.  Chermack's plane was shot down over Holland, Sept. 26, 1944.  In this letter, written after he was shot down, Leo describes life as a POW.  A diary kept by Leo while he was a prisoner-of-war (described here) exists in paper form in the  Area Research Center at UW-Stout.
