A local historian chats about Prairie du Chien (vol. 2)
History talks from Prairie du Chien: Volume 2
During the mid-1950s, local historian Martinus J. Dyrud (1903-1988) of Prairie du Chien gave weekly "History Chats" over radio station WPRE. Near the end of his life, his family transcribed a number of these and published them in a limited edition of 24 copies. In September 2011, his children edited them lightly and suggested they be included here. Dyrud's topics range widely across the history of Prairie du Chien and its vicinity, and the transcriptions reveal much about how the media produced "history" for a popular audience in the middle of the 20th century. This is the second of two volumes.
