The creation narrative of the Menominee Indians, from their Web site

History--Early Menominees

The Menominee "origin story" has been interpreted by many early historians, and, as this site notes, largely misinterpreted as the origins of humans rather than the Tribe's early social organization and government. The Menominee Tribe's web site provides an overview of some of the primary problems with the various versions of the origin story, followed by a shortened version of the story based on information from three Menominee Chiefs.
