Wisconsin Center for Film & Theater Research
The Wisconsin Center for Film and Theater Research (WCFTR) is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin's Department of Communication Arts and the Wisconsin Historical Society. Its collections constitute one of the world's major archives of research materials relating to the entertainment industry.
WCFTR owns more than 300 manuscript collections, 15,000 motion pictures and television shows, 2 million still photographs and several thousand sound recordings. Although it is administered by the University, WCFTR's film, photo, and manuscript collections are cared for and consulted in the Wisconsin Historical Society's Library-Archives Division. In addition to housing the center's collections, the Society holds extensive complementary documentation in its own mass communications collections.
Find more information about the Wisconsin Historical Society's film- and theater-related manuscript collections by contacting the Wisconsin Historical Society reference staff by phone at 608-264-6460 or by email.
