Description: Robert Doyle shaves while looking in a mirror suspended from a hammock with a rain tarp in the military camp at Saidor, New Guinea (present day Papua New Guinea). Sand bags are stacked to create an alcove and his helmet is hung from a branch, probably full of water. A towel hangs to the right and clothes are stacked on the left.

Robert Doyle was a civilian war correspondent for the Milwaukee Journal during World War II, covering the experiences of Wisconsin troops in the 32nd "Red Arrow" Division, an infantry division of the United States Army National Guard. The "Red Arrow" Division consisted mainly of soldiers from Wisconsin and Michigan.
