The Abiel E. Brooks House, built in 1853, with a family group posed on the lawn and porch. Identified (front row, left to right) are Mrs. Noah (Jane Ann) Clemmons (standing), daughter, Mrs. Abiel E. (Mary) Brooks and Mr. Abiel E. Brooks, (both sitting). Behind them are Chauncy E. Brooks, Mrs. Manley S. (Julia Maria) Rowley (daughter) and the three Rowley children, Leslie Brooks Rowley, Eugene and Grace. On the far right is Mrs. Chauncy E. Brooks and her daughter, Carrie [?]. Notes written on the negative sleeve indicate that the house was located at 1101 University Avenue at Mills Street and the main entrance was on Mills Street. The block was enclosed by a high board fence.
