Lotos Club Dinner to William Howard Taft Menu
Autographed one-page oversize menu for a dinner to President William Howard Taft, given by the Lotos Club. Includes an oval quarter-length portrait of Taft, text in blackletter script with ornamented initial letters, a female figure in classical robes draped with an American flag and standing on a wave as two wreathed male and female figures rise naked from the sea holding hands. The male figure carries a trident in his left hand. The portrait of Taft is adorned with flowers, banners with his academic degrees, the words "Peace" and "Prosperity," and a crest with his past titles and terms of office. |
