King Christian IX and Queen Louise's Silver Jubilee Celebration Menu
Front and back covers from the twenty-fifth anniversary of the accession to the throne of King Christian IX and Queen Louise of Denmark. On the cover are two columns festooned with red ribbons, twining garlands, a crown, and a lintel with the Roman numerals "C" and "L" and a man's head, presumably the monarch. The base of the columns includes medallions with the years 1863 and 1888. The back cover features the god Hermes/Mercury, wearing a winged helmet and wings bound to his ankles, holding a caduceus, and encircled with a flowing wrap. |
