State Street
Street view of the north side of State Street, west of 6th Street. The second frame house from the right was once occupied as an office by Victor L. Berger (former Mayor of Milwaukee, famous Socialist). The Ford touring automobile in the foreground (according to annotation) was “one of the first jitney busses”. Independent owners put a sign in the windshield showing destination and charged random passengers for a ride there. |
