Book or Pamphlet
Bremen Flyers
Graphic design from a souvenir publication that welcomed the three heroic pilots who crossed the Atlantic from east to west in the Bremen, a Junkers W33 airplane. Not only was their crossing a landmark in aviation history, but the story of their rescue from an island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence was national news. An extract from the Wisconsin News in Milwaukee noted that the nationalities of the men (German-Captain Hermann Koehl and Baron Gunther von Huenefeld, and Irish Major James Fitzmaurice) were particularly well- represented in Milwaukee. The souvenir brochure is thought to have been published by the Bruce Publishing Co. |
