| Title: |
First Wisconsin Aviator-A.P. Warner |
| Description: |
Color postcard depicting Arthur Pratt Warner of Beloit flying his Curtiss Pusher for the first time, November 4, 1909. Warner was the first person in Wisconsin to fly; he was also the first private individual in the country to purchase an airplane. The plane arrived in Beloit disassembled and not only did Warner have to put the plane together without instruction, but he also had to teach himself to fly. A historic marker near Beloit indicates where this first flight took place. (The red color of the wings is thanks to the artist's imagination.)
